Electronic Signature, Transmission, and Storage Notice Issued

On May 26 HUD issued the Electronic Signature, Transmission, and Storage Notice. This notice is long awaited and provides guidance on acceptable procedures for use of electronic signatures and the transmission and storage of documents and files. With the issuance of this Notice, HUD’s multifamily industry partners are permitted (but not required) to use electronic signatures and electronic file transmission and retention,

and must do so in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

This notice has the potential to make recertifications, lease signings, and other necessary procedures safer during this difficult time. The notice also addresses electronic versions of tenant files which may make future file reviews far easier.

Management and Occupancy Reviews Resumed

RIHousing has been approved by HUD to resume Management and Occupancy Reviews (MORs). We are taking several precautions to make sure that these reviews are safe for management, residents, and our staff. RIHousing staff will not be entering any units. RIHousing staff will be in close communication with sites at least 14 days prior to the MOR to make sure the review is as efficient and safe as possible.

Property Owner COVID-19 Resources for Rhode Island

Due to quickly changing policies both at the federal and state level, RIHousing has created a webpage for property owners and managers. This webpage collects announcements from HUD, the state of Rhode Island, RIHousing, as well as linking to partner agency recommendations. We will be keeping this webpage up to date as new announcements are made or policies are updated. We hope you find this to be a helpful resource during this time.

Make sure to report each instance of a COVID-19 positive resident or staff member to RIHousing using this form.
