Training for Landlords, Property Managers and Realtors

This training is designed to assist landlords, property managers and realtors in understanding Fair Housing laws and obligations including who is protected, what types of housing are covered, prohibitions, and more.

HUD Fair Housing staff will also take participants through the process of how fair housing investigations are conducted. A question and answer session will follow the training. Questions regarding Fair Housing laws and requirements may be submitted in advance by emailing Jon.P.Thomas@hud.gov

811 Rent Adjustments

Starting this year RIHousing will be reaching out to 811 sites when their contract anniversary date is nearing to initiate their rent increases. This will happen on the same schedule and the same procedure as PBCA rent increases. We must receive required documentation back from 811 managers prior to the contract anniversary date to finalize these increases.

Fast Act

The FAST Act (Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act) was put into effect on March 12, 2018. This Act provides three ways in which sites can streamline their recertifications for:

Households with assets under $5,000
Fixed income sources
Households with 90% fixed income

If management chooses to use these options, please note in the file that you are using for this, so it is clear during an MOR file review. Please also note in the file how eligibility was determined and what year of the three-year cycle the certification is in.
